The Libyan Military Sports Federation accomplished a significant sporting achievement in the inaugural Military World Championship for Martial Arts, held in the Federal Republic of Germany. Competing in judo, wrestling, and taekwondo, Libyan athlete Taha Fawzi Mohamed

Al-Aswad won the bronze medal in the heavyweight taekwondo category, earning a third-place global ranking.

The national team showed commendable performance and high-level combat skills throughout the tournament. If it weren’t for exhaustion, luck, and the team’s late arrival, Libya could have secured at least four medals. Despite challenges, limited resources, and difficult circumstances, Libyan athletes continue to prove their ability to compete locally and internationally. Libya ranked 14th among 40 participating countries, with 18 nations reaching the podium—Libya included.

This accomplishment marks an important step in the development of military sports in Libya. It highlights the efforts of the General Staff, led by Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Mohamed Al-Haddad, as well as the Military Sports Federation, technical and administrative staff, the taekwondo coach, and the determined athletes who proudly represented the country.

Congratulations to Libya’s champions on this great achievement, with all best wishes for continued success and future victories on the international stage.
